Synopsis

The Great 14th is an autobiography that uses first hand intimate conversations and previously unreleased images and footage from His Holiness’ private collection, to paint an intimate, complex, and humanized story of the vast experiences that he has encountered. The Dalai Lama reveals his story and his experience of the personal, political, spiritual and historical events that shaped his life. This film is uniquely narrated by the Dalai Lama himself. The Great 14th explores an epic and heroic life of resilience, historical importance, and unbounded humanity that has touched and influenced people of all faiths and nationalities around the world for more than sixty years. The story revealing the soul of the simple monk who aspires every day to walk the enlightened path of the Bodhisattva.

Rosemary Rawcliffe is an EMMY® award winning consultant, executive producer and director with more than 30 years of international experience in television, advertising, film, video, and theatrical production. As a humanitarian, she has a lifelong commitment to creating films that emphasize human rights and tell stories from the female perspective. When Rosemary moved to the United States from her native England, she founded Frame of Mind Films to continue her work in America and her passion for producing stories that bear witness to spirit, hope, and courage. The Great 14th is her most recent contribution to that. Rosemary’s previous films include Women of Tibet: Gyalyum Chemo – The Great Mother (2006) and Women of Tibet: A Quiet Revolution (2008).
